Ally McCoist believes bringing the former Aston Villa manager to Carrow Road is a great appointment but does not see the club escaping relegation unless a miracle happens.

Smith was sacked at Villa after a consecutive run of five defeats and failing to replicate the form from last season with the club opting to relieve him of his duties.
The sack however came too soon for the former Brentford manager according to the talkSPORT pundit.
He told talkSPORT: “They cannot accept relegation. No chance. I think in appointing Dean Smith they’ve appointed a top class manager.
“I make no apology for saying it, but I do think he was sacked a bit early at Villa. “I do think also that if does manage to keep them up, it will be one of the managerial appointments of the decade.”

Jamie O’Hara however sees nothing but ambition on the part of Norwich to let go of Daniel Farke in order for a new manager to arrive.
He said: “They’ve definitely brought him in to stay up, otherwise what would be the point of getting ride of Farke?

“We’ve known in the past he can get you out of the Championship. “They invested this season, we’ve given them some stick, but they’ve spent money and for whatever reason it still hasn’t worked.
“They had to make a change and show some ambition. “I think he was unlucky to lose his job at Aston Villa. This season, for whatever reason it hasn’t quite clicked for them.
“They lost Jack Grealish, they brought in new players, had injuries and hadn’t played together. The team wasn’t quite gelling and weren’t getting results.
“You lose five on the bounce in the Premier League and you get sacked, that’s how it is. I think he’s a very good manager, he’s going to go in there and do a good job, better than what Farke was doing and it will just be about getting them to stay up. “I just don’t know if they can.”
