Real Madrid have been experiencing mixed fortunes this season. From a slow start to the campaign to losing scandalously to Barcelona on both occasions that they have met and not to mention injuries to key players. The pressure is on Carlo Ancelotti to finish strongly this season, with one years left on his two-year deal, a possible departure at the end of the season cannot be overlooked, the home loss to Valencia has further added more complications, club chiefs aren’t pleased as Barcelona take a four point lead at the top of the La Liga table.

More Details

The recent 1-2 home defeat suffered by Real Madrid at the hands of Valencia in La Liga has reportedly ignited a significant wave of discontent within the club’s hierarchy, casting a considerable shadow over the future tenure of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

As reported by Fichajes, this unexpected setback has allegedly spurred club president Florentino Perez to deliver a firm ultimatum to the experienced Italian tactician, indicating a diminishing reservoir of patience at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The gravity of the defeat is further amplified by the fact that it occurred on their home turf and against a Valencia side operating below full strength, missing both their starting full-backs and key winger Luis Rioja due to suspension.

While this loss followed two previous victories against Leganes and Real Sociedad, neither of those wins were entirely convincing, as evidenced by the concerning statistic of six goals conceded across those two matches, further contributing to the growing unease surrounding the team’s recent performances.

A growing perception within Real Madrid suggests that Carlo Ancelotti is losing his grip on the team’s direction with three specific areas of concern particularly troubling the club’s hierarchy as per  Diario AS. Firstly, the composition of the starting line-ups has raised eyebrows, notably the decision to drop Raul Asencio from the center-back position in favor of Aurelien Tchouameni, a move that reportedly baffled those in the director’s box.

Similarly, the continued presence of Lucas Vazquez at right-back despite instances of being defensively exploited is a source of increasing frustration. Furthermore, the occasional deployment of Eduardo Camavinga in the unfamiliar role of left-back and the limited playing time afforded to the young talent Endrick Felipe are also cited as points of criticism against Ancelotti’s management.

While Raul Asencio has emerged as a notable success story this season, the management of young talent such as Arda Guler coupled with the limited opportunities afforded to promising players like 18-year-old right-back Jesus Fortea has been met with disapproval. Fortea, in particular, was anticipated to step into the first team following an injury to Dani Carvajal; however, as noted by Joaquin Maroto, editor of a Madrid-based newspaper, Real Madrid is set to face Arsenal with seven youth players in their squad, yet only Asencio is reported to feel like a genuine member of the senior team.

This perceived lack of urgency and drive on the field has intensified worries among both the club’s fanbase and its top executives. With their fierce rivals, Barcelona, extending their lead at the summit of the La Liga table, the pressure is relentlessly building on Ancelotti and his squad to halt their current decline and regain crucial momentum.

The upcoming weeks will present Real Madrid with a series of pivotal fixtures that could ultimately determine the trajectory of their season—and, indeed, the future of their manager.
