Written By Onyeka Daniel

Following recent reports from Italy, it looks like Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile is reportedly close to joining Turkish club Besiktas, which is definitely against the more reliable reports that he could be staying at the club for his 9th season so far.

More Details

According to the reports, the Turkish side have already had an agreement with the 34-year-old over personal terms; the Lazio captain would sign a lucrative deal that would allow him to pocket €7.5 million per season – more than what he currently earns in Rome.

Nevertheless, the source notes that the Turkish giants still have to find an accord with Lazio President Claudio Lotito. After all, Immobile still has a contract valid until 2026, so while Besiktas were initially hoping to sign the player for around €10 million.

They will have to increase their offer to secure his services as Lotito is looking to collect a figure between €15-18 million. The controversial president has already denied receiving any offer for the player; “You are telling me about this offer, I don’t know about it,” Lotito told reporters when asked about the interest in Immobile.

“It’s like someone telling me he’s getting married, but he doesn’t know who his wife will be. My club has not received any offer. Immobile is a Lazio player, he has a contract with Lazio.

“If the club receives an offer to buy him, then it will be evaluated, but so far we have not heard anything.” He further added. So it remains to be seen if Immobile will leave Lazio after eight unforgettable years at the Stadio Olimpico. It Is absolutely no secret that Immobile is no longer particularly happy at the Stadio Olimpico after a section of the fans turned on him over the past year.

Also, playing second fiddle to Valentín Castellanos towards the end of last season didn’t help either. He’s not the only player to leave the club this summer. Luis Alberto has gone to the middle east, while Felipe Anderson and Daichi Kamada have both departed on a free transfer.

There was a sign that perhaps something is happening because Lazio are starting pre-season preparations with players getting their medical tests, but the 34-year-old was not among them.

As possible replacement, the club has two names lined up in this summer transfer window. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio could move for Giovanni Simeone who has been starving for playing time at Napoli. The Argentine joined the Partenopei in 2022 on the back of a successful spell at Hellas Verona.

But he’s been reduced to a backup for Victor Osimhen. The 29-year-old could thus relish a move to Lazio, especially given that his father Diego had donned the club’s jersey during his playing days. The striker’s contract with Napoli is valid until 2026.

According to a separate report from Corriere dello Sport, the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani, wants Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia. The Aquile will try to secure an initial loan move with an obligation to buy set at €16 million.

The two clubs have already done business this summer, with Loum Tchaouna moving to Lazio. Apart from the two names mentioned, young Partizan striker, Samed Bazdar is also an option . Nevertheless, the source insists that Dia remains the preferred target.
