But it looks like that Simone Inzaghi will come sooner. According to reports, the former Lazio manager will soon put pen to paper on a new multi-year contract with Inter as his agent Tullio Tinti meets with president Marotta to finalise the details.

The 48-year-old has exceeded expectations in the Lombardy capital since arriving back in the summer of 2021, having guided the club to their historic 20th Scudetto this season. He’s also won two Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppa Italiana over the last three years.

The club are already hard at work planning their summer and are working on locking down their stars to new contracts, not just with Lautaro, but also with Nicolo Barella.

A report from Corriere dello Sport details how Inzaghi’s agent Tinti will meet with Marotta in the coming hours to finalise the details of a new multi-year contract for the coach, who is ready to pen a three-year deal worth around €6.5m net per season plus add-ons.

The new contract will tie the Italian tactician to the Nerazzurri to June 2027, which if respected could see him become the second-longest serving coach in the club’s history behind Helenio Herrera.

After that, official announcement should be expected for Lautaro and Barella while the club will look to negotiate with the agent of Dutch wingman, Denzel Dumfries before focusing on signing players for in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile…

Of course, it is well known that the Nerazzurri will like to sign a striker, but they’re also looking to bring in a centre-back and a goalkeeper, and for the latter two, they could be targeting a fellow Serie A. They are targeting Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye as a possible backup for Yann Sommer next season.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the 24-year-old is one of three players the Nerazzurri are looking at in goal. One thing that is clear is that Inter are aiming to sign a keeper this summer. Former Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer will remain at the club.

He will keep his place as the first-choice starter for at least one more season. But Emil Audero will leave Inter, with his loan from Sampdoria expiring.Inter will not sign Audero on a permanent basis. The 27-year-old is a target for newly-promoted Como.

Inter’s plan is to sign a young keeper. The idea would be to bring someone in to deputize for Sommer next season – but then inherit the Swiss’s starting shirt in the long term. According to Sky, there are three names on Inter’s shortlist as far as a keeper to sign this summer. One would be Athletico Paranaense and Brazil goalkeeper Bento.

The 24-year-old has been on Inter’s radar for more than a year, and they see him as an ideal target as Sommer’s long-term replacement, but there is a hue competition for his signature from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. Then, there is also Genoa keeper Josep Martinez. But according to Di Marzio, there is also another keeper in Serie A that Inter are keeping tabs on.

The Sky transfer expert reports that the Nerazzurri are also monitoring Udinese goalkeeper Okoye. This past season, the Nigerian international displaced Marco Silvestri as the starting keeper for the Friulani with his performances. And Di Marzio reports that this has placed Okoye on Inter’s shortlist along with Bento and Martinez.

The Udinese keeper fits into the same age profile as the other two targets. Also, Jaka Bijol is a target for the defense. The Slovenian can act as a backup to Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij and wouldn’t cost much. Plus he’s just 25 years old, and already used to playing in a 3-man defense with Udinese.
