More Details
Marc-André ter Stegen is set to join Girona on loan until the end of the season with the agreement not including any option for a permanent transfer.
The Montilivi-based side will take on only a small share of the goalkeeper’s salary, with Barcelona expected to cover close to 90% of his wages throughout the loan spell as per Radio Catalunya.
Ter Stegen is also understood to have agreed to waive a portion of his salary to facilitate the move, although Barça will continue to shoulder the bulk of the cost.

Having fallen to third choice under Hansi Flick this season, the switch is seen as a logical step for the veteran as he looks to secure regular playing time and strengthen his claim to Germany’s No. 1 spot ahead of the World Cup later this year. Ter Stegen said his farewells to club staff and teammates on Tuesday morning.
The 32-year-old remains under contract with Barcelona until 2028 and as part of the loan agreement, he will be ineligible to face his parent club should the two sides meet.
The deal is expected to be officially announced this week with Girona eager to make changes between the posts. The move has been approved by Míchel Sánchez who views the veteran German goalkeeper as a strong fit for his style of play and a reliable option to reinforce the position.
