The Verde & Black’s most recent victory occurred almost six months ago on October 4, 2023, when they defeated D.C. United 3-0. However, a run of 0W-3L-4D dating back to the previous campaign came to an end on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium thanks to a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas, a Texas rival.

Josh Wolff said that Austin’s early-season difficulties weren’t due to a lack of effort, but a couple winning streaks over the team’s first few games of the year ultimately led to Saturday night’s victory.

“They work hard. That’s never a question. They work hard for each other. They work hard for the fans,” Austin’s head coach said. “Today was a much more complete game from start to finish.”

A positive step was taken on Saturday, opening the door for a chance to win two straight games when the San Jose Earthquakes visit the city on April 6 (8:30 pm).

“Our goal is to make the playoffs. We know how challenging that is,” Wolff said. “Last year was challenging, but this is 2024 and we have a group that’s ready to compete.

“Last year’s last year … we won a game, we want to come out next week and win the next game. We focus on the next opponent and our process … we stick to our script and go to work.”

On Saturday night, Inter Miami and New York City FC drew 1-1, putting their 4-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls in the past.

In order to recover for Inter’s upcoming CONCACAF Champions Cup encounter midweek, Lionel Messi did not play. After gaining a point, Miami is now ranked second in the Eastern Conference, while NYCFC is ranked fourteenth after only four games played.

At home, Miami got off to a fast start as Luis Suarez gave them the lead in the 14th minute. Jordi Alba made a mistake at the back, though, and Miami’s advantage was gone in just 20 minutes. Keaton Parks sent the ball to Alonso Martinez, who scored an incredible right-footed goal to knot the score at one.
