As first called by Football Espana, Atlético Madrid are keen to tie down Diego Simeone until 2027 as they look to keep hold of the Argentine coach who is currently contracted to Atlético until the end of this season.
More Details
Following a good start to the campaign, Atlético Madrid hierarchies have decided that they want to tempt their manager to take his spell at the club to beyond 12 years although the exact figures of the new deal that Simeone will be offered are not confirmed, but El Cholo is expected to have to take a small salary cut.
There is no doubt that Diego Simeone is one of the best coaches that Atletico Madrid has ever had. Since taking the reins in 2011, he has guided the club to two La Liga titles, two Europa Leagues and several other remarkable achievements.
As per Relevo, it will include a wage cut, but with an extra year added on to the original offer, which would keep him at the club until 2027.
This would see the Argentine earn more than €100m during those three years.
Simeone has led his team to 16 points from a possible 21 in La Liga this season, with only one loss. They play Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday and are searching for their first win in this season’s competition.
Meanwhile…
Nacho Fernandez is set to miss three games after he picked up a red card at the end of Real Madrid’s win against Girona on Saturday and the ramifications will be big as reported by AS.
The defender will miss three games, including El Clásico on the 28 October in big loss to Real Madrid who will rue the loss of their centre-back especially as it came at the end of a comfortable 3-0 win vs Girona.

Nacho picked up the red card in the 94th minute. With Real currently nursing a depleted squad, Carlo Ancelotti will be annoyed at the loss of a key defensive asset. The Spaniard will also miss games against Osasuna and Sevilla.
