Defending league and cup champions Al Hilal went head to head against Al Ahli in the first game of the Super Cup.

It was a keenly contested matchup between the two sides with the score ending one all after ninety minutes.
Roberto Firmino had scored what looked like the game’s winning goal in the 66th minute, however, Aleksander Mitrovic forced penalties with a headed finish late into the game.
Penalties had to be the separator as the two teams played for a place in the final against either of Al Nassr or Al Taawoun.

It was the Blues who took the match via the shootouts, thanks to a 4-1 score line against Mathias Jaissle’s side.
Gabri Veiga and Roger Ibanez both missed their kicks while Al Hilal converted all four to clinch victory.
