Draw Friday In Milan As Both Inter And AC Milan Throw Title Lead To Napoli

AC Milan on Friday evening threw away the opportunity to extend their lead at the submit of the table when they took on Udinese at the San Siro but were held to a 1-1 draw. Their second stalemate in a row.

Despite the impressive Rafael Leão scoring his eighth league goal of the season, Destiny Udogie scored his first goal for Udinese giving the the visitors a precious point.

It took the Rossoneri 26 minutes to carve out a chance of their own; Calabria let fly from distance but it whistled off target.

AC Milan continued to grind through the gears and then took the lead just before the half-hour mark. Tonali crossed it in for Leão, who held off Becão’s challenge and slotted it past Silvestri.

The Rossoneri controlled the game from then on and all through the first half reducing Udinese to little of half chances. 

Things appeared cagey for Milan the second half as the visitors began to find joy in small spaces as Arslan put his effort just wide in the 59th minute and Tomori then did brilliantly to get to the ball ahead of an awaiting Beto in the box seven minutes later.

Finally, Destiny Udogie scored for Udinese, the defender found himself on the end of a loose rebound inside the AC Milan penalty area. The on-loan defender smashed the ball into the net from close range, 1-1 the scoreboard reads.

The guests almost bagged the winner in added time but Maignan got down smartly to push Deulofeu’s effort around the post. The game ended in a stalemate as the Rossoneri will have to put the result behind them when the turn up for the derby in the Coppa-italia against Inter Milan.

Inter Milan refused to take the initiative later in the day as the Nerazzurri played out a goalless draw against Genoa.

It was a match that would have seen Inter go joint-top if they won following their city rival’s result earlier in the day.

Inter Milan went into the game with the knowing that Milan were on 57 points but failed to capitalize on the result, registering 21 attempts on goal but 4 on target. They finished the game with an unsatisfactory look realizing they threw away two points and for the third time in a row and failed to register a goal in the match.

The outcome of the match puts Inter on 55, two behind AC Milan and it’s now advantage Napoli who are currently have 54 points as they prepare to play Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
