Duncan McGuire: Big Blow For Orlando City As Key Forward Suffers Shoulder Injury

Written by Patrick Echatah

Orlando City announced Friday that their 24-year-old striker, Duncan McGuire, has successfully undergone surgery to repair a labral tear in his left shoulder.

More Details

McGuire, a former US youth international, has been a vital part of the team’s offense for the past three seasons.

Since being drafted in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, he has played in 88 games for the Lions, scoring 28 goals and assisting on 7 others. Orlando City expects McGuire to rejoin the team later this year, contingent on his recovery.

While he’s sidelined, the team will lean on Designated Player Luis Muriel (6 goals, 3 assists) to spearhead their offense, and Ramiro Enrique (2 goals, 1 assist) may take on a larger role.

Despite McGuire’s absence, the Lions’ attack remains formidable, boasting the league’s fourth-highest goal tally (31) this season.

Coach Oscar Pareja has built his offensive strategy around the core of Designated Players Muriel, Marco Pašalić, and Martín Ojeda, complemented by McGuire and Enrique.
