When selecting Newcastle United starting lineup, Eddie Howe claims he always has to make important choices, and this afternoon will be no exception.
More Details
The Magpies head coach has two important decisions to make before today’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley: who will start in goal and who will take Anthony Gordon’s place in the starting lineup.

Lewis Hall and Sven Botman, Newcastle United’s other two major absences, have mostly already been addressed. Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier can play any full-back position, while Dan Burn and Fabian Schar have spent the majority of the season together in the centre of Newcastle’s defence.
Howe will have to choose between Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka in goal because Pope started Monday night’s 1-0 victory over West Ham. The ‘league’ goalie was Pope, but was that even hinted at? Given that Pope is expected to return for the EFL Cup final, although, there are rumours that Dubravka will be selected ahead of the Englishman in today’s matchup against Liverpool.
There is a significant void on the left side of the forward line due to Gordon’s suspension, but Howe has a number of choices. Harvey Barnes, who began for West Ham, assisted Bruno Guimaraes in scoring the game-winning goal. However, would Joe Willock provide more protection, particularly when it came to handling Mo Salah?
Although Barnes’ performance at the London Stadium and the likelihood that Liverpool will start Jarell Quansah at right-back in place of the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley.

The former Leicester player will get the opportunity of a lifetime to shine on the Wembey turf, Howe could even start Callum Wilson up front and move Alexander Isak out wide.
Isak is the talismanic striker, Jacob Murphy is on the right, while Sandro Tonali, Bruno, and Joelinton make up the powerful midfield trio. Howe will most likely tweak his tactics for this game using role players like Willock, Sean Longstaff and Will Osula.
Newcastle United Predicted Starting Lineup Vs Liverpool: Dubravka, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Murphy, Barnes, Isak.
