Egypt: 349 Al Ahly Fans Banned For Two Games After El-mahalla Game Incident

The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association have banned 349 Al Ahly fans for two games after chanting during the Egyptian national anthem before the El-Mahalla game.
Last Monday saw Ghazl El-Mahalla host Al Ahly in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League in a game that turned out to be one of the most entertaining clashes since the start of the new season.

After Al Ahly found themselves 2-0 up after 50 minutes at El-Mahalla, the hosts produced a brilliant comeback to level the scoreline in the 94th minute.
However, with only a few moments left on the clock, Al Ahly were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box, which was converted by Ali Maaloul for Pitso’s men to maintain their 100% win record.
With the season finally seeing the return of the fans to the stadium, 349 of the Reds’ supporters decided to make the long travel from Cairo to El-Mahalla to cheer for their team at the stadium which they hadn’t won at since 2008.

And it looks like they couldn’t get started with the support, having chanted for their team during the Egyptian national anthem which is traditionally played before the games in Egypt.
For that, the Egyptian Professional Club Association have decided to ban every individual who was at Al Ahly’s stands for two games, while warning them of a permanent ban if they repeat such actions.
In the next two games on the domestic scene, Al Ahly will face Smouha on November 25, before facing Future away from home on December 21.
The Red Devils are currently top of the Egyptian Premier League with a perfect score of 15 points from five games, two points ahead of second-place Pyramids FC.

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane announced his 21-man squad for the upcoming Smouha clash in the Egyptian Premier League.

Mosimane’s men are having a fantastic season as they have won their five opening games, including Cairo derby against arch-rivals Zamalek.
However, their upcoming clash with Smouha will not be an easy one, the Alexandrian team is yet to lose the game in this Egyptian Premier League edition.

What makes the game more difficult for the Reds is the absences in their squad, the team will be going into the game without two starting 11 players, namely, Ali Maaloul who’s suffering in injury, and Amr El-Sulya who’s suspended for accumulated yellow cards.
Hossam Hassan who was substituted due to injury in Ghazl El-Mahalla game didn’t make it to the squad as well as he’s still recovering.
On the bright side, Hamdi Fathy has returned to the squad after his one-game suspension, and Taher Mohamed was also included after being left out in the last two games for tactical reasons.
