Egypt: Percy Tau Set For Al Ahly’s Season Opener; Junior Ajayi Missing Still

Ahead of Al Ahly’s season opener against Ismaily on Wednesday, coach of the team Pitso Mosimane has announced his 21-man squad for the game.

Al Ahly are set to begin their quest for their 43rd league title on Wednesday, October 27th against Ismaily.

Al Ahly will enter the game in full force as all of their new signings Percy Tau, Luis Miquissone, Hossam Hassan and Ahmed Abdelkader are expected to make their league debut.

On the other hand, several other players didn’t make the cut such as Taher Mohamed Taher, Rami Rabia as well as the injured Walid Soliman.

Full Squad:

Goalkeepers: Ali Lotfi, Mostafa Shobier, Hamza Alaa.

Defenders: Yasser Ibrahim, Badr Benoun, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Hany, Ali Maaloul.

Midfielders: Hamdi Fathi, Akram Tawfik, Aliou Dieng, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Amr El-Sulya, Luis Miquissone, Ahmed Abdelkader, Ammar Hamdi, Hussein El-Shahat, Percy Tau.

Forwards: Hossam Hassan and Mohamed Sherif.

Nigeria forward, Junior Ajayi still missing from Al Ahly’s squad as they prepare to launch a bid for their 43rd Egyptian Premier title with a trip to Ismaily on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles striker Ajayi at loggerheads with Al Ahly over compensation fee and it appears that the five-year marriage between Junior Ajayi and Al Ahly has come to an end after he was deemed surplus to requirement by coach Pitso Mosimane.

The ex Shooting Stars striker is contracted to the club until June 2022.

Ahly and forward’s management haven’t come to an agreement on his compensation fee with the case gradually getting messy.

A media outlet reportedly stated that: “Ajayi asked for the value of his entire contract, which is estimated at $850,000, after Pitso Mosimane’s decision to dispense with him.

The club’s management is ready for all scenarios in dealing with the Ajayi crisis, whether if he complains to FIFA or agrees to an amicable solution and termination of the contract.

Al-Ahly’s administration offered him $400,000 in installments, but he refused and contacted a lawyer to obtain the full value of his contract from FIFA.
