Newcastle, who have been monitoring Ekitike for several years, are reportedly concerned about Liverpool’s late entry into the race for the in-demand forward.
Hugo Ekitike is emerging as a highly sought-after player in this summer’s transfer market. While his name might not be generating as much buzz as Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko, he’s expected to be among the most significant transfers by the time the window closes in September.
Newcastle United has been actively pursuing Ekitike for several days, engaging in talks with his current club, Eintracht Frankfurt, and showing strong interest in securing him.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, who previously made an inquiry for Alexander Isak, has also contacted Eintracht Frankfurt to understand the situation surrounding Ekitike’s potential availability.

Now, football journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has shared new information regarding the French striker’s preferred destination. He said on ESPN FC: “What I do hear is that Ekitike is not for sale, but we know the strategy of Eintracht Frankfurt.
“They signed Muani to PSG for €95+5 million, they sold Marmoush to Manchester City for €80 million. His (Ekitike’s) price tag now is €100 million. He is being the joker in the Liverpool-Newcastle thing.
“If Liverpool can’t get Isak, maybe they will go for Ekitike. What I do understand is that the player prefers to play for Liverpool. I can tell you, Ekitike prefers Liverpool Football Club.”
