While the prospect of playing alongside Lionel Messi is undeniably attractive, many analysts argue that moving to MLS could be a strategic mistake for the Monterrey striker, especially with the World Cup on the horizon.

With Javier Aguirre finalizing his squad for the World Cup, critics suggest that staying in a familiar environment like Monterrey—where Berterame is already a key figure—is the safest way to guarantee a spot on the national team.
Many former players and pundits believe Liga MX offers a higher level of competition than MLS. They argue that remaining in Mexico would better prepare him for international play.
The prevailing advice is for Berterame to solidify his status in Mexico through the World Cup cycle, using the global stage as a springboard to a top-tier European league rather than moving to Miami now.

Monterrey’s leadership remains open to discussions regarding German Berterame. Rayados’ sporting president, Jose Antonio “Tato” Noriega, verified that talks with Inter Miami are underway, noting that the potential deal holds appeal for both clubs.
“I can confirm that there has been an approach and that there is a proposal. An offer that is interesting to German Berterame and that may be interesting for us too,” he explained.
While Paul Aguilar has advised against the move, the transfer to The Herons appears likely as a final decision looms in the coming hours.
