The England duo of Ella Toone and Georgia Stanway are looking ahead to their next game in the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euro Qualifiers. The Lionesses will be facing France again after their recent 2-1 loss to the Le Bleues.

More Details

“We have got to go again on Tuesday and ensure that we put it right and ensure that mindset switches quickly. We have learned from this game, analyzed, recovered as best as we can, and go into the next game knowing that it is going to be a difficult match,” Toone told Sky Sports after the match at St James Park.

Stanway also echoed her teammates’ thoughts on the team recovering ahead of their next match which she tagged as a ‘must-win’ match.

“I think it is really strange to play the same team in two fixtures but the mind is fresh because we have done our analysis coming into the game today.” She said.

"Obviously we hope things won't change too much. Maybe little tweaks depending on how we reviewed the game, but whatever happens we just need to win on Tuesday. We will find the way and make sure we put ourselves in the best possible position to do that."

England needs to beat France to brighten their chance of making it to the Euros where they intend to defend their title next year.

Sarina Wiegmann's side have bot been having a good run after a second place finish at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, notably failing to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics as Spain, France, and Sweden picked the three slots from Europe.

The team couldn't win their next two tournaments (FIFA World Cup and UEFA Women's Nations League) after winning their first major tournament (Euros), an experience Stanway says they don't love seeing.

"We hate losing but that is football. I feel we deserved a little more today. It was frustrating to concede two set pieces.

"Felt that we dominated the ball and created clinical chances." She concluded.
