Emma Hayes Speaks On Toughness Of Adding To Chelsea Trophy Haul
Written by Oluwaseun Oyediji
Chelsea FC women coach, Emma Hayes believes adding to the Blues trophy haul is tougher than it is for their rivals that have not previously battled for the titles.
More Details
The team has won the English Women’s Super League (WSL) in the previous four seasons.
They moved to the top of the table after a 3-0 win against Aston Villa thanks to goals from Agnes Beever-Jones, Maika Hamano, and Kadeisha Buchanan on Wednesday.
With 46 points, the same as Manchester City at the top of the table, Hayes spoke ahead of Wednesday’s game on the toughness of retaining the title.
“I always see the pressure on teams that hadn’t won as much. That’s my personal opinion because we are in the chasing position,” Hayes told Sky Sports.
“For us, I don’t think the pressure is on the team that has won the last four titles. It doesn’t mean that we don’t want to win another title.
“You see Pep Guardiola say this. It is pretty natural for teams that haven’t won a lot to have that hunger to go and do things whether you are Manchester United, Manchester City, or Tottenham.
“I think that is perfectly normal. When you are a serial winner, you want to do it again then it is more harder to do it than the first time.” She concluded.
