More Details
Coach Sarina Wiegman in a press conference announced Millie Bright as the team captain for this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards made the list of 23-man players for the tournament as the European Champions attempt to win its first World title under Wiegman.
Wiegman led the Netherlands to the final of the last World Cup in France (2019) where it lost to the holders, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT).
Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Mary Earps, and Aston Villa’s 22-year-old goalie, Hannah Hampton headline the department.
English Women’s Super League (WSL) top goal scorer for the 2022/2023 season, Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly alongside Bethany England, Lauren Hemp, Lauren James, Chloe Kelly, Katie Robinson, and Alessia Russo will play upfront for the Lionesses.
Unfortunately, Beth Mead won’t make the World Cup due to her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
