England women’s national team retained the UEFA Women’s Euros aftwe a 3-1 win on penalties in the final match at St. Jakob Park, Basel on Sunday.

Regulation time ended 1-1 as two headers frpm Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo the key highlights of the encounter.
Caldentey broke the deadlock for the world champions in the 25th minute heading home Ona Batlle’s cross.
The Lionesses equalised in the 57th when Russo headed in Chloe Kelly’s cross.
The La Rojas tried to score the winner afterwards including during extra time to no avail taking the game into penalties.

England emerged winners 3-1 on penalties to claim their second European title after their first in 2022.
They also became the third team to win the title after record champions, Germany and Norway.
It was a resurgence for the European champions after losing their opening match 2-1 against France.

It was a historic occasion for England’s manager, Sarina Wiegman who won three straight European women’s Euros.
She won the 2017 edition with her country, Netherland, followed by consecutive triumphs with England in 2022 and 2025.
Wiegman and her team avenged losing the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to Spain in the process.
