English Lionesses Clinch Maiden Euro Title

The English Lionesses edged Germany 2-1 to win the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 for the first time in England’s history at Wembley Stadium, London.

Ellen White had the first chance of the game in the first five minutes but her header was well saved by Frohms in goal for Germany.
After a goalless first half, the second half produced two goals.
Ella Ann Toone who replaced Fran Kirby opened the scoring for England in the 62nd minute as she tipped the ball over Frohms inside the box to find the back of the net.
Lina Magull almost equalised for Germany but her effort inside the box hit the crossbar.
Germany’s incessant pressure on the English defence paid off in the 75th minute as Lina Magull tapped in Tabea Wassmuth’s cross into the back of the net for the equaliser.
