English Premier League side, Manchester City recently completed the signing of one of the most coveted striker, Erling Haaland and his presence is expected to push some players out of the club in search of regular playing time.

More Details

One of such players is English winger, Raheem Sterling, who will be eyeing a place with the English national team at the World Cup, slated to hold later this year.

During the January transfer window, the player was tipped to leave the club as he struggled for playing time, but he eventually stayed and indeed, there was an improvement in minutes on the pitch as the Citizens won the English Premier League title on the last day of the season.

The player had been previously linked with Real Madrid but at that time, the transfer seem impossible, but now with the Los Blancos failing in their bid to sign Kylian Mbappe, they could make a move for Raheem Sterling and the fact that Sterling can play from the right and left wing will be added bonus.

The player himself had admitted in 2021 that he would be open to a move; “If there was the option to go somewhere else for more game time I would be open to it,” he said at the time. “Football is the most important thing to me.”

And now, according to Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour, Sterling has all it takes to succeed at any club he might decide to join. “I can see some players thinking about trying a different league, a different culture – I wouldn’t put it past Raheem thinking about that,” Parlour said on talkSPORT Breakfast.

“He’s got one year left on his contract and, it’s amazing, I thought Raheem must be 30-odd now – but he’s only 27! “He’s in the prime of his life and career and he doesn’t play on a regular basis because Man City have got so many good players.

“So, yeah, what a move. Real Madrid have surprised everyone this year. I expected them to win LaLiga, but not the Champions League. To beat Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea, and you’d argue two of those teams are the best in the world at the moment, it’s an amazing season.

“Antonio Rudiger is going there as well, Real Madrid are really stepping it up now and Raheem Sterling would be a great signing for them. “We forget he’s still only 27. He’s had a long career already, but I’m sure Pep Guardiola knows how important he is.

“He’s a big-game player and we saw that at the Euros for England. Everybody thought Sterling was not in great form, but he stepped up and was probably one of our best players in the tournament. “So if he does move on, I’m sure he’d do a great job for Real Madrid if he went there.”

The Andalusian based club will hope to push on next season and even better their current standing.
