The visitors, Chelsea, were initially slow to find their rhythm, with their only notable attempt near the half-hour mark being a blocked shot from Pedro Neto.
The first on-target effort for Chelsea came from Trevoh Chalobah, which was comfortably saved by Burnley’s goalkeeper, Martin Dúbravka. However, Enzo Maresca’s team eventually gained momentum just before halftime.
Following a crucial block by Kyle Walker to deny Jamie Gittens, Chelsea immediately capitalized: Gittens delivered a precise cross to the back post, allowing Neto to head in the opening goal and give the Blues the lead.
Chelsea significantly improved their attacking threat in the second half but still lacked cutting-edge creativity for a period. Gittens nearly extended Chelsea’s one-goal lead, only for his deflected shot to drop just wide of the post, leaving the Blues with a precarious advantage. The closest Chelsea came to that vital second goal was shortly after the hour mark when Neto’s powerful shot smashed against the post.

Burnley showed a brief sign of life when Zian Flemming volleyed a chance over the bar. This missed opportunity prompted Scott Parker to make a triple substitution for Burnley, but the changes failed to break down a resilient Chelsea defense.
Maresca’s side finally secured the win in the closing stages. Marc Guiu’s strong play saw him shrug off a defender and lay the ball off for Enzo Fernández to easily sweep into an open net for the second goal, allowing Chelsea to relax.
This victory provides Chelsea with ideal preparation for a demanding week featuring matches against Barcelona and Arsenal. Conversely, the defeat deepens Burnley’s anxieties regarding relegation.
