According to several reports from Italy, current League leaders, Inter Milan are keen to strengthen their attack for the 2024/25 season as they look to be more competitive with the projection that they will be playing more matches, owing to the FIFA club world Cup competition and the new format of the UEFA Champions League starting from next season.
More Details
Already, they have the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, who are assured of staying while the future of Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez are far from secure, but the club have already secured Mehdi Taremi on a free transfer and so, will just target one more player for that position, depending on whether they keep Arnautovic or not.

One player that has been linked with the club is Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson, but another name has surfaced on the radar and he ticks several boxes in the profile of players that Inter want. Anthony Martial is set to leave Manchester United as a free agent and has reportedly offered his services to Inter.
The Nerazzurri are on track to win their 20th Serie A title, currently 14 points clear at the top of the table, and reached the Champions League Final last season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Martial has offered himself to Inter, knowing they have a limited transfer budget, and owing to their lean budget, they are looking at players that they can acquire for little or no fee at all, just like Taremi and Piotr Zielinski.
Martial is only 28 years old and had been a huge €60m signing when joining Manchester United from Monaco in 2015. However, he never really flourished and it is widely reported the club does not intend to use its renewal option on his contract, so it will expire at the end of the current season.
The former Monaco man has scored two goals and provided one assist in 19 competitive games this season for the Red Devils, but has struggled with a recurring groin injury that already scuppered a January move to Marseille, Fenerbahce and the Saudi Pro League.
In 93 Premier League appearances, Martial scored only 12 goals. Should he move to Inter, he will increase the number of French players at the club, that already has Thuram and Benjamin Pavard and possibly Olivier Boscagli. For Martial, Roma could also become interested, especially if they don’t get to make Romelu Lukaku’s move permanent, hence, they will be in the hunt for a new striker.

Meanwhile…
Inter are “closing in on” the signing of Genoa forward, with Spurs also targeting the 26-year-old, according to Caught Offside, with the report stating that the Nerazzurri have secured Gudmundsson’s agreement on a move, but must now find an agreement with his club. The Iceland international has been a talismanic player for Genoa.
He has scored eleven goals and assisted a further three to help the Ligurian club secure a solid foothold in the Serie A midtable in their first season back. However, this means that Gudmundsson is looking increasingly unlikely to be a Genoa player past the end of the current season.
And according to the report, the player who can also play as an attacking midfielder is attracting transfer interest both in Serie A and also the Premier League (Tottenham Hotspur). The London club consider the 26-year-old to be a backup target to Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

However, according to the report, Spurs face significant competition to sign Gudmundsson from Inter in particular. The report anticipate that the Nerazzurri have already taken big steps towards signing the former AZ Alkmaar forward. Gudmundsson has already agreed to join Inter during the summer transfer window.
However, the Nerazzurri still have not secured an agreement with Genoa.Naturally, the Grifone will want a significant fee (€35m at least) for a player in the form that Gudmundsson has been in. But Inter could aim to lower the cash fee for Gudmundsson by also sending a player to Genoa as part of a deal for him, and that there is one player in particular who is of interest to the Grifone, Inter wingback Mattia Zanotti.
Zanotti is currently on loan with Swiss side St. Gallen. And Genoa are looking to strengthen at right-wingback. The Ligurians signed Djed Spence on loan from Spurs in January, as part of the deal that took Dragusin to the EPL, but the Englishman has not convinced. Therefore, Zanotti could be the player who is key to unlocking a deal for Inter to sign Gudmundsson.
