Although Slot admitted he was relying on a “gut feeling” rather than a medical report, he noted that seeing his striker limp off was a worrying sign.

Isak’s impact on the match was bittersweet; after being subbed on at halftime to exploit a 10-man Spurs, the club’s record signing scored the opening goal within 11 minutes, only to be forced off shortly after.
Liverpool’s high press paid off when they dispossessed Tottenham deep in their own territory. Florian Wirtz capitalized immediately, threading a precise ball to Isak, who lifted a first-time shot over Guglielmo Vicario to score.
However, the goal was overshadowed by a sliding challenge from Micky van de Ven; attempting to make up for Cristian Romero’s mistake, the Dutchman missed the ball and collided heavily with Isak. The striker’s studs caught in the grass, causing his left knee to twist painfully under the impact.
Speaking after Liverpool’s gutsy 2–1 win, Slot was wary of providing any firm updates. “We’ll have to wait and see,” he warned. “It is too short after the game to speak about it but it is never good when a player has to come off.”

“I don’t have any news on him,” the Liverpool boss reiterated in his postmatch press conference, “but if a player scores, then gets injured and then doesn’t come back on the pitch and doesn’t try to come back … that’s usually not a good thing.
“But I cannot say anything more than that, that is just [a] gut feeling. Nothing medical to say about it.”
Before his media obligations, Slot hadn’t spoken with Isak directly, but he made a point of focusing on the encouraging aspects of the player’s 11-minute appearance. Specifically, the Dutch manager drew attention to the promising chemistry displayed between the club’s two record-breaking signings.
“It’s a good thing that he scored: a good goal, assisted by Florian Wirtz,” Slot highlighted. “I said last week already players are getting better and the team is getting better. Again, it wasn’t perfect today, especially not in the last 10 minutes, but in the meantime we pick up points and I see the team developing in a way I like to see.”
