Eric Dier: Bayern Munich Confirm Contract Extension For English Defender
Written By Albert Echatah
Eric Dier’s contract has been extended until 2025 by Bayern Munich, the team has revealed, due to the defender reaching a specific number of appearances.
More Details
During the January transfer window, Dier joined the Bundesliga champions on a six-month loan after falling down the Ange Postecoglou’s hierarchy at Tottenham Hotspur.
The England international’s contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expired in June, and if Bayern had not kept him on the books, he would have concluded the season as a free agent.
Dier, 30, has now made enough appearances to activate the option Bayern agreed to, which called for him to stay at the Allianz Arena for the 2024–25 season provided he played a specific number of games.
For Thomas Tuchel’s team, Dier has already played in seven Bundesliga games; he started five of them and, in his debut, helped the defending champions defeat Union Berlin 1-0 while maintaining a clean sheet.
“I’m happy in Munich. Now my future is sorted, and I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club to win games, win competitions, even though it’s been a difficult period for us,” Dier told the official Bayern website.

Manchester United have announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s official 27.7% takeover of the team in exchange for a £1.3 billion agreement has now been completed.
Ratcliffe said: ‘To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility.
‘This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans. Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.’
