At Villa Park, Manchester United secured a valuable point and had the best chance to win all three when Bruno Fernandes’ free kick hit the crossbar in the second half. The outcome has dropped the Red Devils to 14th place in the Premier League standings, and given the team’s problems this season, Ten Hag’s career as manager is seriously in jeopardy.
Ten Hag, who is still certain that he is the best person to lead the squad, has maintained that he has not been informed by club executives that he is under pressure.
“So I don’t have any idea that is different,” Ten Hag told the Manchester Evening News when asked about his future, “because they should have told me. We communicate very open, very transparent.
“I speak continuously with them and just after the game I have to do my job, talk with the players, manage the players and answer questions from you. We always talk. Every week, I would say every day we talk, so I expect I will speak with them.”
When questioned about the managerial position at the end of last week, Ratcliffe declined to publicly support Ten Hag and responded that it was “not his call” when asked about a possible firing.

In response to a question from BBC Sport about his belief in Ten Hag, Ratcliffe said: “I don’t want to answer that question.. .I like Erik.
I think he’s a very good coach but at the end of the day it’s not my call, it’s the management team that’s running Manchester United that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects.
“They’ve only been there… you can count it in weeks almost – they’ve not been there a long time so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions.
“Our objective is very clear – we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it’s not there yet, obviously – that’s very clear.”
