Esmee Brugts: Dutch Midfielder Joins European Champions

European and Spanish champions, FC Barcelona has signed Dutch midfielder, Esme Brugts from PSV Eindhoven ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

She has signed for the Catalan side for the next four seasons up to 30 June 2027.
20-year-old attacking midfielder Brugts is a full international and recently played for the Netherlands at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, featuring five times and scoring two goals.
She spent the 2022/2023 season (last season) at PSV Eindhoven, playing 15 league games and scoring 8 goals.
She also played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) and played 27 competitive games during the season before.
Her debut season with PSV saw her play 23 competitive games at 17 years old, including facing Barça in the Champions League, with the blaugranes winning 4-1 in both matches.

After winning their second UWCL title, the team defeated Montpellier 2-0 in a friendly match this month as key players represented their countries at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Alba Cano and Laia Martret scored for Barcelona during the friendly.
The team will next face the likes of Juventus, Club America, and UANL Tigres in friendly games.
