No one would have predicted this kind of messy situation for Dani Olmo after his good outing with Spain at the 2024 Euro, earning him a desired move to Barcelona. The cash stridden Catalan club registered hm for six months using the slots for injured players who are now back to full fitness albeit having to be re-registered after completing the first half of season but the Blaugrana outfit haven’t been able to meet up with the La Liga 1:1 salary limit rule hence the delay to have him available for the second half of the season.

More Details

With his current situation, the player is still hopeful of a possible resolution between Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), La Liga and Barcelona who are set to present the matter to a higher court after the documents presented by the Catalan giant was rejected by the League body.

Emerging updates reveal that despite interest from top EPL clubs, the player is reluctant to move out of Spain even with a unique clause in his contract which stipulates that he can unilaterally terminate the agreement if the club fails to register him.

Currently, Olmo possesses the right to leave Barcelona without consequence, effectively becoming a free agent. However, he has not yet exercised this option. Barcelona now seeks to register Olmo and teammate Pau Victor through a legal injunction, hoping to circumvent the current restrictions and secure their services for the remainder of the season.

It’s clear that these events have been difficult for Olmo. He’s understandably uncomfortable with the current situation, and the uncertainty about his future is undoubtedly affecting his peace of mind and ability to concentrate.

Another twist from the information gathered from recent reports suggests that Dani Olmo would be entitled to his full six-year salary if a mutual termination of his Barcelona contract were agreed. However, these claims have been refuted as the reports further states that he would not receive any additional compensation upon leaving as per MD.

While this news offers some relief to Barcelona, as it would prevent further financial strain, the club still faces the significant obligation of repaying the transfer fee to RB Leipzig. The initial payment, reported to be around €55 million, remains a considerable financial burden for the club.
