Group B is unarguably the hardest group to predict, it has been labelled the ‘group of death’ by many. It truly is anybody’s game as Spain, Croatia, Italy, the reigning champions, and Albania square off in Germany.

Although, they were not able to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, Italy are returning to the event with the intention of defending their title under Luciano Spalletti.

Under Luis de la Fuente, Spain’s youthful setup has made them an exciting team to watch, and they are slight favourites over the remaining teams.

Croatia will rely on their ‘unwavering’ experience to help them progress. The 2018 World Cup finalists will need players like Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic. One thing is guaranteed, there are some tantalising matchups involving three of the world’s top-ranked countries.

Group Preview

Spain are the clear frontrunner in Group B, and it would be shocking if they do not win most of their games, if not all of them. They have only lost one of their last eleven games, indicating that they are a force to be reckoned with at Euro 2024.

Second spot is where things really get exciting. Although, it is hard to pick a favourite between both countries, Croatia and Italy will both be hoping to grab the other qualifying berth.

Croatia haven’t had the finest results lately. In March, there were narrow wins over Latvia and Armenia in the last qualifying round. Before that, they suffered back to back defeats to Wales and Turkey.

Albania are clearly the underdogs. However, big international tournaments are quite unpredictable and have seen several upsets in the past.

Players To Watch

Rodri, Mikel Oyarzabal, Federico Chiesa, Federico Dimarco, Luka Modric, Lovro Majer, Elseid Hysaj and Rey Manaj.
