Trippier’s injury would severely limit England’s choices at left-back, as Luke Shaw is still recovering from his injury.

Southgate, though, was certain that Trippier’s problem would not be a problem as his team now prepares to play Denmark on Thursday.

‘Kieran [Trippier] was just cramp. As far as I know everyone has come through well,’ the England boss told BBC Radio 5 Live after the game.

Although England’s performance in the second half should have been better, Marc Guehi, the centre defender, deserves a lot of respect for making an impression in his first big competition.
