The match featured all of the classic suspense and tension of the European Championship right from the start. Poland, without Robert Lewandowski, defied the game’s tempo and took an early lead, but Cody Gakpo quickly brought the score back into balance.

In the end, Poland’s lack of a clinical style and the Netherlands’ persistent forward surge were what allowed the Orange Army to guarantee a successful tournament opening.

The Netherlands controlled play for the first fifteen minutes of the match, but Adam Buska of Poland scored a goal in the sixteenth minute to turn the whole Volksparkstadion into a cheering section.

But this only served to increase the Dutchman’s determination to attack even more. Cody Gakpo scored a goal in the 29th minute to bring the match back to even after several attempts on goal.

Finally, the Orange Army’s game-winning goal came from super sub Wout Weghorst in the 83rd minute.

Spain defeated Group B foes Croatia 3-0 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion to start Euro 2024 on a winning note.

Inspired by Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, who, at 16 years and 338 days, became the youngest player to ever feature in a European Championship match, Luis de la Fuente’s team scored three goals in a dominant first half.

Within three minutes, the first goal was scored by captain Alvaro Morata after a clever through-ball from Fabian Ruiz. Then, the midfielder twisted and turned in the Croatia box to score the second goal himself.
