Everton’s Dynamic Duo: Ndiaye, Grealish Poised To Make History
Written By Albert Echatah
In Everton’s inaugural match at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium, Iliman Ndiaye of Senegal scored the first goal, setting the tone for a new chapter under manager David Moyes. Everton went on to defeat Brighton 2-0.
More Details
Although Ndiaye’s goal was well-executed, the real standout of the match was Jack Grealish, whose superb performance was the driving force behind the victory.

A Manchester City loanee, possibly motivated by feeling unwanted by Pep Guardiola or wanting a spot on England’s World Cup squad, was immediately comfortable with his new teammates, providing two assists.
In other news, Ndiaye is already the new leader for this Everton team. The successful debut of Thierno Barry, a player of French-Guinean descent, also indicates a bright future for the team.
Ndiaye’s historic goal marked the end of an era at Goodison Park, Everton’s home for 133 years. In May, the 25-year-old Senegalese international scored the final goal there, securing a 2-0 win against Southampton.
The team has an expanding core of African players. Against Brighton, midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam were key, while Youssef Chermiti and Adam Aznou are also on the roster.

The attacker had a memorable moment on the old field. This past weekend, he ushered in a new era for one of the Football League’s founding members as they celebrated the grand opening of their new $800 million, 52,888-seat Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
On the banks of the Mersey, Everton’s new stadium created a vibrant atmosphere. It felt both new and modern yet comfortably familiar.
The same can be said for Ndiaye, who, despite his flair and inventive playing style, has become a fan favorite in his second season. His flamboyant style, however, is not what you would typically expect from an Everton player, especially under Moyes’ management.
