In this summer transfer window, one of the hottest names on the transfer market is Canadian striker, Jonathan David as he is a free agent and ready to decide where he’s going to play next after leaving Lille. In the last few days, there has been plenty of speculations on which club he would be joining.

Italian Serie A clubs seems to be the most active in the pursuit, even if he has admirers in the English Premier league, Barcelona and also from the Middle East. For the player, he has now denied agreements with Napoli or Juventus, but leaves a door open for a move to the league.

David is in a hurry to choose his new club, and both Napoli and Juventus are said to be among the most interested clubs in securing his services, plus Inter Milan. Corriere dello Sport reported in May that Napoli had reached an agreement with him, while Juventus reportedly offered €6m plus €2m in add-ons.
However, he denied having any agreements with either side. “[Napoli] is a club that just won Serie A. And I’m guessing they don’t just want to win Serie A one year and say, ‘OK, we won, that’s it.’ Obviously, it’s a club that’s ambitious, that’s going to play in the Champions League,” David told The Athletic.
Speaking about whether he may face more pressure at Juventus than at the Stadio Maradona, David said: “I think anywhere you go, there’s always pressure to perform every week, there is the pressure to keep your spot, pressure from the supporters, because obviously you have to win every game. There is always pressure anywhere you go.”
“When I watch Serie A compared to, say, the Premier League, the [latter] is just faster tempo, more up and down, faster. And Serie A can be like that, but it’s more tactical. It’s more like a chess game in a way,” the striker continued. “I obviously want to get something done before pre-season starts so I can get settled and have that pre-season time with my team.”
“Anything can happen, you never know what can happen. You just have to be prepared for anything.” He further added. His contract with Lille expired at the end of last month and the 25-year-old had already confirmed in May that he’d leave the club at the end of the season, but it was recently revealed that his purchase may be as expensive as €34m despite being a free agent.
In a related development, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that the talks with Kevin De Bruyne ‘started three months ago’ when he was still deciding his Manchester City future. The midfielder will be a free agent from June 30 when his current contract with the Premier League giants expires.

He has already rejected other more lucrative proposals from the likes of the MLS and Saudi Pro League to accept a new challenge at Napoli. “The De Bruyne operation started three months ago,” De Laurentiis revealed during an event to announce Napoli’s pre-season training camp. “However, it is not the most important deal of my career.”
“De Bruyne is world class, even if his age is getting along a bit. He is part of a team that will need to be strengthened, because we will be participating in four competitions. There will be many new additions, we like to work well.” He had been expected to undergo his medical this week, but he decided to wait until after completing international duty with Belgium first.

The midfielder turns 34 later this month and had been at Manchester City since 2015, but in early April the club announced it was not going to offer him a new contract. The player confessed he was “a bit surprised” at being told he was no longer part of their plans and would not even be given the opportunity to negotiate a lower salary.
