Fabregas Shows Huge Appreciation To Arsenal 18 Years After The London Club Handed Him His Professional Debut

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder, Francesc Fabregas was on a Q&A session on Twitter in commemoration of his 18th year as a professional footballer which all started with Arsenal at the Highbury stadium.

Cesc Fabregas made his professional debut eighteen years ago in a league cup game for Arsenal at home to Rotterham United, becoming the youngest Arsenal debutant in doing so. Fabregas would go on to make 303 appearances for Arsenal in an eight year span.

During the question and answer session on Twitter, the 34-year-old answered varieties of questions and thanked Arsenal for giving him the opportunity to explore.

“18 years ago today I made my debut as a professional football player. It still feels like it was yesterday that I was entering the very special Highbury for the first time.

“I don’t know how the time has passed so fast but very blessed to have lived all this in this period of time.

“Thank you @Arsenal for giving me the best opportunity of my life.” He said.

Fabregas had reserved praise for some of the players he has crossed path with, some of them being Andreas Christensen and Ngolo Kante at Chelsea.

“What a player. Very underrated. He’s very shy and doesn’t make too much noise because he hardly makes mistakes.” He said about the Danish defender.

He described Kante as “The big boss” and said Highbury was “stadium that I miss the most of all. What a special place.”

He described Steven Gerrard as his toughest opponent and named Roberto Firmino as the best false nine there is right now.

Fanregas played in that false nine role for Barcelona on occasions while at the Camp Nou, a role which Firmino has redefined and mastered in recent times.

He however did say despite appearing in that role under Pep Guardiola, he sees himself more comfortable in his midfield role.

“I really enjoyed it and it worked very well but obviously it wasn’t where I wanted to play lo the time. I’ve always seen myself as a midfielder.”

Fabregas would go on to win almost everything but the Champions League with Barcelona but did win the World Cup and twice the European championships with the Spanish national team where he made 110 appearances in ten years with the La Roja.
