Written By Onyeka Daniel

Few days ago, reports of negotiations between Italian side, AS Roma and former Juventus defender, Leonardo Bonucci was reported and it looks like the negotiations is progressing at a positive pace.

But the Giallorossi supporters are expressing a lack of enthusiasm about the potential addition of Union Berlin to their club next month. Just six months after his move to Germany from Juventus, Jose Mourinho is eyeing Bonucci to strengthen his team’s defence.

The defender was compelled to leave Italy when Juventus deemed him unfit to continue playing for them. The Bianconeri were dissatisfied with his fitness record in the previous campaign, leading them to part ways with him.

Unhappy with the situation, Bonucci is eager to return to Italian football, making a move to AS Roma seem logical. However, according to a report on Calciomercato, his transfer to Roma is in jeopardy due to the fans’ disapproval.

The report suggests that many fans have voiced their displeasure on social media platforms regarding the prospect of having him in their team. It remains uncertain whether Roma will heed the fans’ sentiments and abandon the move or proceed to bring the experienced defender into their squad.

In another news, things have not gone well for Renato Sanches at Roma and the club are looking to send him back to Paris Saint-Germain next month, reports suggest. The 26-year-old Portuguese midfielder joined the Giallorossi in the summer on a €1m loan deal with a €15m conditional obligation to buy clause attached, linked to making 60% of possible appearances across the season.

Injuries have hampered Sanches’ first half-season with Roma and patience has seemingly run out with the midfielder, who came off the bench against Bologna before being hooked off just 18 minutes later. He was not included in the squad for the next match against Napoli.

As reported by Daniele Longo, Roma have decided to give up on Sanches and will ask to send him back to PSG in the January transfer window, wanting to make space in their squad. The Portuguese’midfielder feels increasingly alone in the Italian capital and is struggling to understand why he’s failed to make an impact under Mourinho. He recently removed all ties to Roma on his Instagram profile, sending a clear message.

Meanwhile…

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler reportedly wants out of the French capital. The Spaniard wants more game time to secure his spot on the national team ahead of UEFA Euro 2024 next summer.

Although the club doesn’t necessarily have to keep Soler, it seems they are unwilling to grant any requests for his departure. Le Parisien reported that PSG promptly shut down the possibility of Soler’s departure despite recent speculations.

The report further stated that the capital club aims for the treble – Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France – and believes they’ll need everyone. Various reports have it that Soler has been offering his services to several clubs, including Juventus, ahead of the January transfer window, with the Bianconeri on the look out for a midfielder to sign in the winter. It means that Juventus will have to look elsewhere.
