Favour Ashe Breaks Justin Gatlin’s Tennessee Freshman Record

Favour Ashe becomes the third Nigerian athlete (this season) to hit an automatic 100m qualification for the World Championship, running a new Personal Best of 10.04s (+0.6) to win the SEC Outdoor Title.

Favour Ashe clocked10.04 seconds to break Justin Gatlin’s Tennessee freshman record on his way to winning 100m Gold at the SEC Championships.

He was ahead of Dedrick Vanover who ran a PB of 10.10s and Dorian Camel in 3rd, also running a PB of 10.11s. Matthew Boling finished fourth in 10.13s.

Grace Nwokocha finished top performer at the Big South Championships, winning the 100m, 200m and 4x100m events.

The North Carolina A&T freshman completed the sprint double as she won the women’s 100m in 11.12s (+2.8) before she clocked 22.75s (+0.6) in the 200m.

Ruth Usoro finished second in the women’s Long Jump at the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock, TX, soaring to a new Personal Best (PB) of 6.78m (0.7) behind her teammate Monae’ Nichols who jumped a massive PB and World Lead of 6.97m (1.0).
