The Frenchman is upbeat about his side’s chances in the matchup against the Palestinians on Thursday.
“Tomorrow’s match is an important match and we have only one chance, which is to win.”
Renard is however not apprehensive about the game heading to shootouts given his side’s poor run from the spot in recent times.
“We will do everything we can to win in the 90 minutes, and if it goes to penalty shootouts, we will achieve it.”
“We suffered from penalty misses in the qualifiers and the last match, but now it has become a thing of the past.”
Asked if there would be a change to the team that lost to Morocco in the last group game, the 57 year old replied: “I don’t play with a fixed lineup in order to prepare the players; some players played a match just 3 days before the national team’s first match here.”
The former Morocco manager argued the ongoing tournament is not an inferior competition and that he sees every match as important.
“All matches are important; we represent the homeland.
“I want to play the first match in the national team jersey, and I assure you that he deserves to represent the homeland in the World Cup.”
