FIFA Insurance Rule to Cover Christian Eriksen Salary

Written by Jacobs Dunga
Christian Eriksen’s uncertain future due to the cardiac arrest suffered by the Dane while representing his nation at the ongoing Euro 2020 was expected to have a financial constraint on Inter Milan who were already limited financially as a result of the pandemic outbreak that has prevented fans from attending football matches.
An insight was given on the potential effect of the unavailability of the midfielder whose return to the pitch doesn’t seem feasible for the time being.
Football governing body, FIFA will take responsibility of a large chunk of Eriksen’s salary after the rules for eligibility were explained by Italian football finance outlet Calcio e Finanza. It was reported that the Beneamata will get a large portion of the player’s salary for next year through the FIFA club protection programme 2019-2022.
As it is, the player’s contract is not revealed but it is believed that FIFA provides up to €7.5m per 365 days period on the wages of players injured during international competitions.
This story comes as a relief to Inter board that already has capital gains to settle before the end of June.
Inter therefore can focus on strengthening their squad further while the Dane recovers from the unfortunate incident.
