FIFA Ranking: English Lionesses Enter Top Four After Maiden Euro Triumph

UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 Champions, English Lionesses moved up four places on the latest FIFA Ranking released on Friday, August 5, 2022.

England currently occupy the fourth position in the ranking moving up four places after defeating Germany 2-1 to win the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 title in Wembley last Sunday.
Runners up, Germany also made a positive movement on the ranking moving three places up to the second position.
CONCACAF Women’s Champions and World Champions, United States of America Women’s National Team (USWNT) maintained its leadership position as the top-ranked women’s football team in the world.

Olympic silver medalist, Sweden dropped one spot to the third position after a 4-0 defeat to England in the semi-final of the Women’s Euros.
Despite reaching the semi-final of the Women’s Euros for the first time, Le Bleues of France dropped two places to occupy the fifth position.
France 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup beaten finalist, The Netherlands also dropped two positions to the sixth position.
Olympic Golden medalist, Canada dropped to the seventh position (-1) alongside Spain’s La Roja which occupy the eighth position (-1).
2022 Copa America Femenina Champions, Brazil (9th) and Korea DPR (10th) maintained their respective positions on the ranking.

In Africa, the Super Falcons of Nigeria remained the top-ranked women’s football team on the ranking despite dropping seven spots to the 46th position.

WAFCON 2022 Champions, Banyana Banyana of South Africa moved to the second position and 54th in the world.
Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon dropped to the third position and 59th in the world.
Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, and Equatorial Guinea occupy the fourth to sixth positions respectively while WAFCON 2022 host and beaten finalist, Atlas Lionesses of Morocco occupy the seventh position.
Tunisia, Algeria, and Zambia complete Africa’s top ten ranked women’s football teams with the Copper Queens of Zambia making the biggest move to the 80th position (+23) after a third-placed finish at WAFCON 2022.
