‘Fight For Your Place’ – Paul Merson Issues Strong Message To Ramsdale Over Arsenal Future
Written By Albert Echatah
In light of rumors that Aaron Ramsdale will remain at the Emirates until the end of the season, Paul Merson has pushed the player to “fight for his place” at Arsenal.
More Details
The season has been uncertain for the Englishman due to the unexpected loan signing of David Raya by Arsenal from Brentford. Ramsdale hasn’t played in the Premier League since the beginning of September, but that was only because Raya wasn’t allowed to play against his parent club, so the Spaniard has moved up to the top slot.
Because of this, there have been rumors that the goalkeeper would try to move out of North London in order to get more playing time. However, new information indicates that Arsenal will not permit him to leave in January.
The 25-year-old will probably get his shot in goal on Sunday when the Gunners play Liverpool in the FA Cup third round. Mikel Arteta will probably start him. Merson told Sky Sports that “Goalkeeper signed a contract, that’s the way it rolls” and that “all Ramsdale can do is keep working hard and try to displace Raya in the starting eleven.” Although it’s awful, things are as they are.
‘He signed a contract. They brought in another goalie, he’s number one at the moment. He’s got to fight for his place, it’s as simple as that.
‘It’s a horrible position for goalkeepers. It’s very, very unusual if you can get two top drawer goalkeepers, which Arsenal have got.
‘But where are you going to go? You’re not going to Liverpool, you’re not going to Manchester United. The only one I can see is Chelsea and I don’t see Arsenal selling to Chelsea.

Meanwhile…
Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.
Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.
This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
