Fiorentina Set To Appoint Italiano As Manager

In what seems like a sharp twist in Fiorentina’s search for a new manager, it appears that the Viola are close to appointing Vincenzo Italiano for the vacant role.
The side based in Tuscany had reportedly shelved plans to hire Italiano a few days ago and were said to be looking at Rafa Benitez, Marcelo Bielsa among many others as options for their bench.
Now Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations between the club and the Spezia manager are going well and Italiano is expected to meet with the Spezia hierarchy today to pay the €1 million termination clause that will free him from his contract with the team that finished 15th in Serie A last season.
Italiano did a fantastic job with Spezia last season, ensuring the team’s survival in Serie A in their first ever campaign in the Italian top flight.
If all goes well, the contract should be signed today and an announcement is expected from Fiorentina tomorrow.
