Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been crowned the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for his outstanding efforts in the 2023/24 season.

At the PFA Awards event in Manchester on Tuesday, the England forward—who had previously won the PFA Young Player of the Year title in 2021 and 2022—was presented with the Player of the Year trophy.



Phil Foden on being crowned the PFA Players’ Player of the Year: “To win this award is something very special; I am very proud of and grateful for. To be recognised this way by your fellow professionals means everything and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.

The 23-year-old added: “I want to pay special thanks to Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City coaches and all my team mates as they help me to try and get better every single day.

“I’d like congratulate Kyle Walker, Rodri and Erling Haaland on being voted into the PFA Team of the Year as it’s great to see their amazing quality recognised in such a way,” Foden concluded.

Foden, 24, is now the fourth City player in five years to get this prestigious award after the likes of Erling Haaland (2023) and Kevin De Bruyne (2020, 2021) in recent years.

Cole Palmer, a Chelsea forward won the PFA Young Player of the Year title after recording 27 goals and 15 assists across all competitions in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old also made his senior debut for England last season, and he scored in the team’s July defeat of Spain in the Euro 2024 Final in Berlin.

David Raya, Gabriel, William Saliba, Declan Rice, and Martin Ødegaard were the Gunners’ star to feature in the side which also included City’s Kyle Walker, Erling Haaland, Foden and Rodri, Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

Meanwhile, Khadija Shaw, a Manchester City women’s club forward, picked up the Women’s Player of the Year award after leading the WSL scoring statistics with 21 goals in the previous season, eight goals ahead of the nearest competitors, Lauren James and Elisabeth Terland.
