Football Manager Developers Confirm Mason Greenwood Potential Return To Video Game At Next Scheduled Update

Written by Olaleye Oluwadamilola

Mason Greenwood is set to make return to Football Manager at the next scheduled update as revealed by the video game developers after the Manchester United outcast sealed a season long loan move to Getafe.

More Details

Mason Greenwood is set to return to Football Manager following his deadline day move to Getafe, the makers of the video game series have confirmed after the Sports gaming company removed the 21-year-old forward from the game after he was suspended by Manchester United due to charges of rape and assault which has since been dropped by the alleged victim.

With the allegations dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023 after ‘key witnesses’ withdrew from the case, the England international has now started a new chapter in Spain after sealing a loan move to Getafe last week.

Now that he has made a return back to football, the makers of Football Manager have revealed their plan to add him back into the game ‘at the next scheduled update’.

“Players or officials serving indefinite suspensions from football, for any reason, are removed from Football Manager at the first opportunity,” Sports Interactive told The Athletic.

“When suspensions or playing restrictions are lifted, the player or official will be reinstated in-game at the next scheduled update”.

Sports Interactive have yet not confirmed an official release date for Football Manager 24.

Meanwhile…

Getafe have defended their decision to sign Mason Greenwood this summer, claiming that the Manchester United forward is just like any other player with the arrival subject of much scrutiny after many slammed the Spanish side for being ‘tone deaf’ on the players past.

“We did what we do, sign players that are available to sign, there is no need for us to handle anything off the pitch”, stated Getafe sporting director Ruben Reyes.

“We have signed a footballer who is just the same as fellow signings Diego Rico and Oscar Rodriguez and that’s it. We have to do our job, and that’s what we focus on.”

Reports suggest that Man United have a break clause in the player’s temporary loan deal that could see his time in Spain ended in January.

The forward was presented to the LaLiga club’s supporters at their Coliseum stadium in Madrid alongside their other summer signings.
