According to reports, Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to sign Casemiro for the Turkish Super Lig side. This move would also help Manchester United generate much-needed funds.

More Details

Under Portuguese gaffer Ruben Amorim, who took over in November, Manchester United has struggled significantly this season.

They finished 15th in the Premier League with only 42 points and missed out on Champions League qualification after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Manchester-based club are reportedly experiencing severe financial difficulties, which could force manager Amorim to sell existing squad members to generate funds for rebuilding the team.

Meanwhile, Turkish publication Fanatik claims that Besiktas has identified Casemiro as a potential acquisition and might capitalize on the fact that his contract has only one year left. Financial troubles are plaguing the team, raising fears they might have to offload attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are reportedly interested in the player, whose £100 million valuation makes him a tempting sale, especially as he represents their most marketable midfield asset, particularly when contrasted with the aging Casemiro (33).

While young talent Kobbie Mainoo could command a decent transfer fee, his season has been hampered by injuries, leading to concerns among potential suitors about investing heavily in him before he demonstrates a sustained return to full fitness.

Manchester United have been criticized for prioritizing immediate success over long-term stability through aggressive spending in recent seasons.

An example of this approach is the 2022 acquisition of Casemiro from Real Madrid for an initial £60 million, with an additional £10 million in potential add-ons. Despite being 30 years old at the time of the transfer, he was given a four-year contract.
