Marin Cilic resurgence continues as he reaches his first semi finals at the clay event in France.

It took world number, 20 Marin Cilic five set to beat world number Andre Rublev 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2) at the quarter finals on Wednesday.
Cilic, a 2014 US Open champ, 2017 Wimbledon finalist, and 2018 Aussie Open finalist, joins World number 1 Djokovic and former number ones Nadal, Federer and Andy Murray as the fifth active men’s player and first Croat to reach the semi-finals of all four Grand Slam events.

“I played that kind of tennis all match. It was played with a lot of heart. One had to go down, today was my day, but Andrey played incredible. Bad luck to him,” Cilic said on-court afterwards.

23 year old Casper Ruud beat 19-year-old Holger Rune 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-3 to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal at Roland Garros.
Rudd overpowered the youngster, firing 13 aces and 55 winners while Rune had to fight off 12 of 17 break points carved out by the Norwegian.

He becomes the first Norwegian to progress to the semi finals of a grand slam tournament.
He will face Marin Cilic on Friday.
