As Inter Milan square up against Sassuolo on Saturday for a chance to redeem their season, we look at the four factors that could work in the Nerazzurri’s favour.

LATEST POSTS

  1. Sassuolo vs Inter seems to be a special fixture Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez who made his Inter debut against the Neroverdi in 2018. The Nerazzurri number 10 also got his first ever Serie A brace against Saturday’s hosts in the 2019/2020 season at the Mapei Stadium. Lautaro has scored four goals altogether against the Reggio Emilia side.
  2. Robin Gosens’ favourite opponents in Serie A are the Neroverdi against whom he has also scored four times. In fact, his last Serie A goal came against Sassuolo on the 21st of September 2021 while still with Atalanta. Since then, the German has gone fifteen games without finding the back of the net in the league. The left wing back could prove vital if given a chance on Saturday.
  3. Inter Milan have won in each of their last three visits to the Mapei Stadium. Simone Inzaghi’s team has an aggregate score of 9-4 from those victories and will be out to make it four out of the last four come Saturday.
  4. The newly found momentum. Inter Milan have struggled since the start of the new season under Simone Inzaghi. However, the victory over Barcelona on Tuesday could prove to be a turning point in their season which has so far been nothing short of disappointment.

The Nerazzurri will hope that all of these factors again work in their favour when they visit the Mapei Stadium on Saturday for their ninth league match of the season.

Meanwhile…

AS Roma were subdued in the Europa League by Spanish side Real Betis who ran out 2-1 winners.

The Italian side took the lead from the spot through the in-form Paulo Dybala before Guido Rodriquez levelled scored five minutes before half time.

Luiz Enrique won it for the Seville based club in the 88th minute and Nicolo Zaniolo saw red in added time in a disappointing loss for Roma.

That was Roma’s first loss at home in the Europa League in thirteen games, the last time they suffered a reverse at home was against another Spanish side, Villarreal.
