FOX’s Women’s Euros Gamble Pays Off with Record U.S. Viewership

FOX Sports’ bold move to broadcast the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship in the United States (U.S.) has paid off in historic fashion.

The tournament averaged 458,000 U.S. viewers per game across FOX platforms — marking a 97% increase over the 2022 edition and making it the most-watched English-language Women’s Euro in U.S. television history.

The highly anticipated final between England and Spain — a clash of the reigning Euro and World Cup champions — drew 1.355 million viewers, up 53% from the 2022 final.

The match peaked at 1.92 million viewers, cementing it as the most-watched English-language Euro Final on record in the United States.

Strategic success

FOX made waves in May when it secured the first-ever U.S. media rights deal for the Women’s Euros, committing to air all 31 matches live as part of its broader Summer of Soccer campaign.

From the group stage to the final whistle, the network saw strong returns and growing fan engagement.

“More and more people are tuning in to watch soccer in the U.S.,” said Carli Lloyd, former United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) star and FOX Euros commentator, in a statement to The Athletic.

“There’s just been an incredible amount of soccer on display, which has been fantastic for the sport.”

With record-breaking ratings and growing U.S. interest in international women’s football, FOX’s investment signals a major shift in how global tournaments are consumed stateside — and further underscores the sport’s surging popularity ahead of the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup on home soil.
