France Football Reveal 2021 Balon D’or Nominees

France Football on Friday revealed the list of nominees for the 2021 women’s Ballon d’Or (best women’s football player in Europe).

20 players from different European clubs made the list.
Spain and FC Barcelona midfielder, Alexia Putellas who scored 18 league goals in 31 games last season in helping her side win the Spanish Primera Iberdrola and the UEFA Women’s Champions League made the list.
Sweden and Chelsea FC defender, Magdalena Eriksson also made the cut after helping her Barclays English FA Women’s Super League (WSL) side clinch the 2020/2021 WSL title and reached the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League losing 4-0 to FC Barcelona.
France and PSG forward Marie-Antoinette Katoto represented French D1 Arkema players on the list after her 21 goals in 19 league games propelled PSG to 2020/2021 D1 Arkema title.

Australia and Chelsea FC forward, Sam Kerr made the list after scoring 21 goals in 22 WSL games last season as her side won the league.
Another Sweden player on the list, Stina Blackstenius was part of the silver winning side at Tokyo 2020 Olympics and scored eight goals in 19 Swedish Damallsvenskan games last season with six goals in four Svenska Cupen as BK Häcken won the 2020/2021 Svenska Cupen.

Bayer Leverkusen moved to the second position on the German Bundesliga Women’s league table with 12 points from five games after defeating ten players Sand 2-0 on Friday.
Milena Nikolic and Kristin Kogel’s 66th-minute penalty lifted Bayer Leverkusen to the second position on the league table after Marina Georgieva’s red card for Sand.
