The former Burnley boss took it upon himself after his side’s comeback win by revealing what he told him team at the interval which inspired the comeback.
“I’ve been down there, I know what it’s like and every season there have been tough patches for us,” Dyche told Sky Sports.
“It’s hard to explain, but sometimes you sense that a team might have lost how to win a game. I said to them at half time ‘I’m not sure these know how to win a game, away from home particularly’.”
It was a scathing attack on Frank Lampard and his Everton team but just over a week after those comments were made, Sean Dyche has been sacked by his employers while Lampard still retains his place.
Asked in his prematch press conference ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Leicester about Dyche’s sacking, the Chelsea legend was modest in his response.
“Dyche has been an incredible manager at the club. They have decided to make a change and he deserves a rest. I wish Sean all the best. It doesn’t affect Everton. This doesn’t change anything for us.”
Everton are seventh on the log with three points better off Burnley in the last relegation spot and could move six points clear with a victory over Leicester City tonight.
