French Open: Martina Trevisan, Coco Gauff Secure Maiden Semi Final Spots

Coco Gauff won the American derby against Sloane Stephens 7-5, 6-2 to reach the Roland Garros semifinals on Tuesday on Court Philippe Chatrier.
The 18-year-old defeated the 2018 runner up in straight sets to maintain her streak of not dropping a set since the tournament started.

The fresh high school graduate who moves back inside the WTA top 20 will now push for a place in the finals against unseeded Italian Martina Trevisan in French Open semi finals.
“I feel so happy,” said Gauff. “Last year was a tough loss for me but I believe that match made me stronger.
“Last time I played Sloane I lost. Today was different. I stayed mentally strong as she is the kind of player who can make shots others can’t do.”
Coco led 3-0 in the first set of the encounter before she was broken and equalled at 5-5.
However, clean, precise hitting allowed Gauff to dominate the 12th game to clinch the opener.
Coco would not let points slip like the first set even when she gets broken. She held momentum to get a memorable win and avenge her US Open loss to her compatriot.

Martina Trevisan for her part got her ten consecutive wins as she made her first Grand Slam semifinal by beating number 17 seed Leylah Fernandez 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-3.
She became the first Italian woman to reach a Roland Garros semi-final since Sara Errani in 2013 after win against the US Open finalist.

The 28-year-old who is ranked 59th will clash with Coco Gauff on Thursday with a chance to become the youngest Grand Slam finalist since Maria Sharapova at 2004 Wimbledon.
